Description Joon Ro 2014-08-13 01:35:29 UTC
Pictures in an album is not recognized (generic thumbnail) if the album name consists of unicode characters. Once I change the name to English, digikam successfully generates picture thumbnails.

Also, it seems the pictures' metadata are not read correctly - if I go to the Dates view, those pictures are categorized in one wrong date. (Again with generic thumbnails)

If thumbs are not visible, can you show image preview (F3) or edit image (F4) ?

One of the example album name is "2008.12 종강" (without quotes).

I cannot show image preview (I get "Failed to load image") or edit it (just blank window shows up).

I just tested with digiKam 4.10.0 for Windows.

It seems it just cannot deal with any unicode characters in folder or file names.

For example, I just made a duplicate copy of a .jpg file that digiKam has read without any problem, and rename it to Հայաստան.jpg. digiKam showed me "Failed to load image".

Bug fixed with digiKam Version5.0.0-Beta7

Steps to reproduce:
1) Add new image in Test Album
2) Rename image to 여보세요.jpg
3) Picture thumbnail is generated.

Please try with the latest release.

I tried with other non Latin languages (Arabic and Japanese), picture thumbnail is still generated.
