Description Richard Pestinger 2014-08-08 11:01:39 UTC
I installed KMYMONEY on my Windows 7 64 bit computer but it will not run. It never starts but it runs okay on my 32 bit computer. There are no errors, it appears to have installed without a problem but when I try to start it nothing happens. I have also tried running it in the compatibility mode, as an administrator still nothing.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.click on icon
2.
3.
Actual Results:
Nothing

Expected Results:
Expected Kmymoney to start

My Windows experience is very dusty now, so apologies for any rubbish.

Would you right-lick on the icon and check it's pointing to the executable.
Also, you could try running from the command line - /pathtokmymoney/kmymoney.exe.

That might give a clue.

It would also help to know where you got the install file, and whether you installed the standalone KMM or as part of a larger KDE for Windows.

I went to the following web site
https://techbase.kde.org/Projects/KMyMoney
and downloaded the standalone version
kmymoney-x86-setup-4.6.4.exe

Here is the path
C:\Program Files (x86)\KMyMoney\bin\kmymoney.exe

I tried but no luck. When I try to launch Kmymoney I get a spinning icon
for a few seconds and then nothing.
I also tried installing in the root directory but still it will not
launch. It works as expected on my Windows 7 32 bit Dell portable but
not on my 64 bit Windows 7 computer.

Did you do that as I suggested, from the command line? Spinning icons I tend to associate with executing from an icon. Running from the command line, there's a chance that there may be a nice useful message (or not).

Comment 6 Richard Pestinger 2014-08-14 13:15:49 UTC
Allan,
After all the problems I tried Kmymoney on an older 64 bit computer and
it installed correctly. I had planned on rebuilding my new computer
because of other problems now I will do it much sooner.

I have also been working with Ubuntu 14.04 both as a desktop and as a
server. I recently converted my Microsoft web server to Ubuntu, best
decision I have made concerning computers. I hope one day to have all
the applications I need on Ubuntu and get away from Microsoft.

Thanks
Richard

This is as much as I can tell you about the problem.
