Hit Ctrl-R. Enter text in the replace field. Hit Ctrl-F (making the replace field go away). Git Ctrl-R again. The replace field does not retain the text it had previously.

My version of Kate actually reports its version as 3.13.3...but 3.13.2 is the highest version that is in the list box here...
