Description Bollebib 2014-08-07 14:25:45 UTC
With multiple images in one krita session now possible it would be nice to also be able to put an image in a docker. This can be useful for several things, but mainly as a reference or an overview substitute. It would still be editable as well.

This can replace this wishbug (https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=329959 ),potentially.
Or similarly, the overview can essentially just be a duplicated window ,in a docker,as a quick shortcut, which can be done manually as well ,through the method I just described.

13:53:41 - boud: Bollebib: there are cascade and tile actions, but no autosnap. Basically, a choice between tabs with tiny icons and old-fashioned mdi for now
13:54:15 - Bollebib: ah tile actions, that seems nice already
13:56:37 - Bollebib: boud: so there are also tabs?
13:56:37 - Bollebib: is there a screenshot for that?
13:57:15 - Bollebib: or is it a solution with the "tabs" in a list under "windows" menu option
14:04:32 - boud: one moment
14:05:23 - boud: tabs and the window menu: http://wstaw.org/m/2014/08/07/plasma-desktopcb3320.png
14:05:39 - boud: I am fixing a bug in the window menu now, if you close a view, it won't disappear from the menu
14:20:54 - Bollebib: boud: that looks clean =)
14:22:59 - Bollebib: boud: if you choose windowed rather than tabs, can you open 2 files
14:22:59 - Bollebib: maximize them both (no borders) and then just switch with the menu?
14:22:59 - Bollebib: I'm just thinking up what scenarios ar possible and which sacrifices the least screen estate (as you know I have a small screen)
14:23:37 - Bollebib: but I'm really excited
14:23:47 - Bollebib: looks so good
14:24:27 - boud: well, and this is only the start. Once I've got the bugs out -- like not asking to save a modified image, some quick-switching weirdness now and then, a crash here and there, we can start designing a really flexible mdi manager
14:24:43 - boud: this just uses the default Qt one
14:25:39 - Bollebib: I see
14:28:37 - Bollebib: boud: I just thought of something potentially crazy.....
14:28:37 - Bollebib: Just want to run it by you.
14:28:37 - Bollebib:
1)can you have duplicates of the same file on different windows and work so that it updates in the other?
2)Would it be possible ...to add a file window to the dock? (and kind of use it as a reference images/overview,but also aditable and everything...)
14:29:37 - boud: 1) already works
14:29:43 - Bollebib: nice =D
14:29:59 - boud: 2) well, I guess it's doable
14:30:41 - Bollebib: interesting
14:30:45 - Bollebib: boud: would that be easier or harder then to improve the overview docker?
14:31:20 - Bollebib: (i'm sorry I ask so much ,I find this fascinating ^^' )
14:31:30 - boud: no idea yet :-)
14:32:38 - Bollebib: okay .... I might file a wishbug to complement the overview wishbug and then link to each other in the comments so a dev can choose which one seems easier or more interesting
14:32:38 - Bollebib: if you don't mind

I think that the current overview docker provides the needed functionality, extending it is out of scope for now.
