Description empire 2014-08-07 05:50:46 UTC
With Dolphin 4.13.3, when I open a file (which executes the default program with it) that's in an sshfs mount it delays for several seconds (takes more than 10), for even sub 1KB files. This did not happen in older versions of Dolphin.

When doing the same with PCManFM 1.2.1 file manager or executing the program with the file through a terminal it opens very fast (as it should). So it's not a problem with ssh, sshfs or anything else.

I monitored the network IO traffic while this delay occurred and it runs at max 8KiB/sec up and down. It seems that something in Dolphin is limiting the bandwidth when opening the file.

Thanks for the bug report!

We use KIO to access the file system, so I'll reassign it ;)

Thanks.

Today my distro updated KIO from 5.0.0 to 5.1.0 and the problem went away. Maybe it was fixed, or maybe it was something else.

No I was totally wrong. The problem is still on KIO 5.1.0. I got confused because I tested it with PCmanFM instead of Dolphin.

Nobody looked on this yet?

Nothing? Not even a test?

At least point me in the right direction as to which source code file I should look at to find this bug and how to debug it.

I'd try the file ioslave first: https://cgit.kde.org/kio.git/tree/src/ioslaves/file

Can you still confirm this issue in KDE Frameworks 5.45?
