Description Richard Neill 2014-08-02 03:09:47 UTC
Under the (old) kprinter system, it was possible to right-click on a printer and clone it, creating a new "instance" of that printer.

This made it really easy to create multiple "virtual" printers with different defaults.

So, for example, my default printer was called "bw_draft", while I also had different printers called "duplex", "color" and "photo".

This made it very easy to select the right instance of the printer within the application, rather than having to drill down through the printer settings each time (and often forget to switch them back again).

Hence, my request for a virtual printer option. Thanks for your time.

Yes, I can confirm this use-case (also for color vs b/w printing) and would also highly appreciate such a feature!

One can already add the same printer multiple times, as long as its name differs. But it would indeed be nice if the interface made this easier.

This is possible with current Print Manager, it just requires that you set up a printer again, changing the queue name each time.
