I often sort a sequence of photos into two folders (one for web upload), but later need to compare photos from both folders in the light table for further sorting. E.g., a typical light table sequence might get numbers 001, 003 and 005 loaded from one folder and then numbers 002, 004 and 006 from the other. Since I upgraded (sorry I don't remember what from, but it was a version that didn't include non-destructive editing) to 3.5.0, and again to 4.0.0, the light table's thumbnails automatically show in numerical order - 001, 002, 003, 004, 005, 006 - but the paired windows show photos in the order loaded - 001, 003, 005, 002, 004, 006. (I'm ignoring the custom-pairing option.) It's very disconcerting to see two different sequences, especially when clicking through the thumbnails in order and seeing the right-hand window load photos from somewhere else in the thumbnail sequence.

My last upgrade was to version 4.14.0, the bug hasn't changed. The Thumbbar always shows the images in order of filename, while the paired Panels always show the images in the order they were added to the Light Table. The mismatch of Thumbbar pairs to Panel pairs is weird and confusing. It doesn't matter whether you pick filename or load order, just please pick one and make it apply to both Thumbbar and Panels so they're not showing two different sequences. You can easily check the bug yourself by adding a few images with sequential filenames in a non-sequential order.

The Thumbbar has rearranged them into filename order (each square pairs with a banner by filename) while the Panels persist in showing the load order.

Hi Wendy, With digiKam 8.0.0, I cannot reproduce the By bair behavior from the Light Table. Files are loaded as expected side by side, following the serie N and N+1 from the thumbbar. Maik, I check again, and if album icon view sort item is not by filename, the LT thumbbar items list is loaded in a strange order. Also by pair navigating do not follow the thumbbar items list. Gilles
