Description John Murphy 2014-07-14 13:51:04 UTC
Sad to see a great game in such a mess. These are new bugs. All was well on my previous install of Ubuntu 12. Now using Kubuntu 14.04 (32bit, kernel 3.13.0-30-generic).

All tests in full screen mode.

The ball slows down noticeably when many prize bricks are initially revealed, such that a new playing technique must be learnt to accomodate the delays. Ball movement seems more juddery than it was (it was never quite smooth).

Balls sometimes bounce from a brick at new unexpected angles, or appear to go straight through a non existent gap between two adjacent bricks.

On my last test; level 10 completed unexpectedly while there were bricks remaining.

The bat seems to stick at play area edges. More noticeably on the left hand side where the pointer can actually be seen outside the play area the mouse has been moved a little too far.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start kbreakout, Press F to go full screen
2. Play for a while.
3. Consider downgrading to Ubuntu 12
Actual Results:
See details above.

Expected Results:
To complete all levels and get over 100,000

Using nVidia proprietary 331.38 from nVidia updates

Geforce GTX 560 Ti 2GB

Other games seem fine

Willing to test fixes.

Re: The bat sticking at either edge of the play area - the pointer can only be seen on screen if there's a desktop panel on that side. It was showing up to the left until I closed the game, moved a desktop panel from left edge to right, and started again in full screen mode.

Iirc, in previous versions, in window mode the pointer was kept within the play area until 'P' was pressed to pause. In this new version the pointer can move outside the window edges and even close the program, without needing to press P.

My father have same problems, in debian Jessie, 32 bit
Since his upgrade from Wheezy to Jessie, for this game, he use the wheezy package and force the pakage version to not upgrade ( paquet 4:4.8.4-3).
The issue still exist today. We have done verification this week.

Issues are erratic, starting from level 7.

The bug with the incorrect brick count / prematurely cleared levels has been fixed with commit dd0118db78d361bf58c03212c7b6f0fac9c9369f

I can confirm the bad bounce angles and the mouse cursor moving outside of the playfield, making it difficult to control the paddle.
