Description Murz 2014-07-09 08:36:58 UTC
At now KDE Open With dialog contains 2 input fields - Command Line and Known Application list.

Command Line — is for improved users that can understand which binary we must select to run

Known Application list — is for most of other users, they can select needed applicaion manually.

But very often we known application name, but don't remember in which category it is located. So for find this app we must manually open and scan each category.

Here is screenshot with example of problem: http://i.imgur.com/ZYi5dQ1.png

User want to open file via "LibreOffice Writer" program, that exists in Known Application tree, but not visible. He try to type part of name "write" and listbox shows only "write" binary name. So it must go to Known Application and scan tree manually.

All other application runners (KRunner, KickOff, Lancelot, Homerun, new Plasma2 menu) have quick search filter for quickly finding app via part of name.

Can you add same feature to KDE "Open With" dialog for filtering and quickly finding needed app?

Reproducible: Always
