Description golbahar.poirierm 2014-06-27 10:41:51 UTC
I tried multitasking while downloading music from a cd: I inserted a USB while it was processing, and opened it to view the files. When I ejected the USB key and wanted to close Dolphin, I realised that I couldn't, because it was placed tight up in the top left hand corner, hiding the title bar, the minimize and close bars. I tried to move it using the gray edges of the bottom of the dolphin window, without success. I tried resizing it, but the resizing arrows wouldn't show up. I couldn't even shift to the window behind it; it would remain hidden from view, covered by dolphin no matter how many times I would click it. The KDE start menu would appear behind all open windows, and none of the open windows and applications are visible in the gray bar that runs along the bottom of the screen. I logged out, but when I logged back in, dolphin was still running, and it was still in the top left-hand corner. I shut down the computer to restart it, and when I logged back in and opened Dolphin, it showed up once again in the top left hand corner, as do any other windows I open. These problems make it difficult to switch between tasks, or to control the appearance of my work space.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Log in
2. Open Dolphin
3.
Actual Results:
Dolphin window is unmoveable as are all other windows, and the start menu when clicked is always sent to back.

Expected Results:
start menu when clicked should be sent to front, I should be able to click windows which are running in the background.

When restarting my computer after my recent updates, I shut it down after it had begun to restart. this may or may not have brought on this bug.

Thanks for the bug report!

Maybe you have "keep above others" and "no borders" activated for Dolphin?
"Right click on title bar -> More actions"

Please also check if you have enabled some "Window- or Application-specific settings" for Dolphin.
"Right click on title bar -> More actions -> Special Window/Application Settings"

I cannot reach or see the title bar and therefore cannot right click
it. and cannot change those settings

Comment 3 golbahar.poirierm 2014-06-27 12:08:18 UTC
my os has been corrupted (possibly after having installed wine and the
windows terminal emulator that comes with it. I know it isn't working
because it is not allowing me to delete a file. I don't have
sufficient administrator privileges.

now the kde wallet daemon is asking permission to be opened when I am
only trying to connect to Internet.

Comment 5 Christoph Feck 2014-06-27 13:46:51 UTC
Please try with a clean configuration, for example with a freshly created user account. Neither reinstalling, nor restarting will clean the configuration files in your home directory.

If windows have no title bar, it is also possible that the window manager crashed. Please check with Ctrl+Esc if "kwin" is running.
