Description Clay Weber 2014-06-18 23:52:13 UTC
Kubuntu 14.04
kwalletmanager 4:4.13.2-0ubuntu0.1~ubuntu14.04~ppa1
pam-kwallet 0.0~git20140410-0ubuntu2.1

When attempting to import a .kwl file into my current wallet, or into any newly created one, I get the following error:

Error code -9: Read error - possibly incorrect password

Importing data exported using xml format works as expected.

Also, when opening a closed wallet, the password does work as expected. It seems just the import function is affected.

The same happens to me.

Well, this could happen with wallets from an old wallet version. Can you get the kwalletd debug output wile re-attempting the import?
Comment 4 Simone Gaiarin 2015-11-29 08:33:13 UTC
Here is the debug output:

kwalletd5[1259]: Wallet new enough, using new hash
kwalletd5[1259]: Runtime error on the new hash
kwalletd5[1259]: fsize:  1415602408  encrypted.size():  32520  blksz:  8
Comment 5 Valentin Rusu 2015-12-12 22:25:17 UTC
Well, I think that your wallet got corrupted somehow and it no longer reads correctly. That's visible from the fsize value, which is clearly incorrect. I remember having already dealt with a bug on Ubuntu when upgrading KWallet corrupted the wallets. Does this corruption occur after a system update?

Hi there

This issue still happens for me some times.

It has nothing to do with corrupted wallets, as after a reboot the wallets work fine again.

There must be some issue with temporary files/locks not being properly released.

It mostly happens here, when I close my plasma session, and start a new one (both via startx).
