Description Giovanni Triboli 2014-06-17 20:03:13 UTC
Dear Okular developers,
I'm using Okular to add notes and bookmarks to a PDF
and I'm very happy with your useful application

On my 17" notebook it is all OK
but when I view the document on my 10" netbook
I can only see notes, whereas bookmarks are missing

I'm using Okular version 0.19.1 with backend PDF version 0.6.4
on both computers. And Ubuntu 14.04 with Italian locale.

I had the same problem using Okular 0.19.0 on both PCs.
And using the Okular native format, too
And using American English locale, too

I attach the PDF in the case you can help me
In the attached screenshot you can see the bookmarks in action on my notebook

I'd use the bookmarked PDF on my netbook on next Monday

TIA
Giovanni Triboli from Italy

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Add a bookmark with Okular on PC #1
2. Save PDF and copy it on PC #2 with identical software

Actual Results:
Opening PDF on PC #2 and all bookmarks are missing

Expected Results:
I'd see al the original bookmarks, instead

I think having the broken PDF could be useful for you
so I've attached to a mail I've just sent to Albert Astals Cid

Thank you in advance

Giovanni Triboli

Broken PDF + screenshot on the correct PC

When this PDF is opened with Okular it shows the bookmarks only on a PC. On the other show no bookmarks at all.

Bookmarks are local to the system, not to the file, it's like your browser bookmarks. There's a file you can copy in `kde4-config --localprefix`/share/apps/okular you can copy between your computers.

If you want to request an easier way to copy this bookmarks between computers please open a new wish item.

Thank you Albert,
in fact I found the xml files and copied on my PC #2 in the equivalent folder
but this doesn't suffix. Also editing the folder in the xml file pointing to the PDF location.
I really appreciate a feature to transfer bookmarks to other machines.
Cheers, Giovanni

Thanks, Albert, for your ready reply

It doesn't solve my need, however,
as I've explained in my post online

So I've requested a new wish feature

congratulations for your useful job

Cheers, Giovanni
