Description Dāvis 2014-06-04 03:06:41 UTC
After upgrading to KDE 4.13.1 (not sure what version was before) plasma-desktop, kmix, krunner, kwin crashes right after login. It's not related to HOME files because even if I remove those with empty directory it still crashes anyway. Creating new user and loggin with it, there's no crash and desktop works. Also if I rename this user (editing /etc/passwd) it doesn't crash.

It's really mysterious, seems like some configuration/config issue, but so weird that it's for this specific user "Dāvis" and it did worked fine before upgrade.

Any ideas how to locate issue?

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Logging in with my user "Dāvis"
Actual Results:
plasma-desktop, kmix crashes and all desktop is black. If I remove kmix then crash happens with plasma-desktop and krunner or kwin.

Expected Results:
They shouldn't crash.

I even reinstalled all KDE workspace/apps but it didn't had any effect.

Thanks a lot. /var/ was indeed nearly full. So looks like there was enough space to upgrade system, but it used almost all space and wasn't left free space for cache for that user. And workspace was customized a lot, including using different theme. But /home/ is different partition and there's plenty of space.

I think correct behavior should be to don't try creating cache if there aren't enough free space and warn user about it. Because crash is really bad and then it's not easy to tell why it happened.
