Description MichalG 2014-05-28 11:51:25 UTC
I heard Krita is able to use Photoshop brushes. Really?
I put some (normal, no fancy) .ABRs into "brushes" subfolder in Krita , but they are still not visible... :O
What should I do to just use them in Krita??? :|

Reproducible: Always

Actual Results:
Added PS brushes are not visible anywhere when working in Krita

Expected Results:
Ability to easily choose Krita and Photoshop brushes while using Krita :)

Here are example brushes that I tried:

I could import both set without a problem. Did you try to use the import button? Windows or Linux?
Comment 2 MichalG 2014-05-28 12:39:11 UTC
Where I am to find "Import" button?
When trying to use just "load" .abr there is no "abr filetype" option.

Sven, there's no import button in 2.8 yet :-). Go to edit/resources, select "open resources folder" and drag the abr file into a folder called "Brushes". They should show up in the Predefined brushes tab in the brush editor, not in the "Brush presets" palette.

The brush editor

The brush editor with the Predefined Brushes tab open and one of the abr brushes selected.

There is an import button directly below the brush chooser. It's the button with the open icon.

But this "import" works only for standard Krita brushes (*.kpp) and not for *.abr.
I just checked it out.
I still use v2.8.3. anyway

Don't confuse kpp files with abr files: they are a different thing altogether.

kpp files are brush _presets_: they combine settings and a brush tip.

abr, gbr, gih etc. are brushes (maybe better, brush tips). You can load them only from the brush engine editor, in the tab I showed you in the attachment.

That's the preset chooser. For the brush chooser you have to go into the brush setting and then into brush tip and then predefined. See: http://userbase.kde.org/Krita/Tutorial_1#The_brush_engines

Thanks you gentlemen, now it is clear! :)
