Description Daniel Duris 2014-05-23 20:34:32 UTC
Some camera (e.g. Panasonic) write their own custom tags, especially for GPS - including not just latitude and longitude, but also the exact names of location - country, region, county, city, district, street or landmark etc.

It would be nice, if there was an option to enable to display such data in any part of the Digikam's GUI - specifically file / thumbnail listings etc.

Typo: Some cameras ... not some camera.

With metadata filter configurable into Setup/Metadata panel and Display session, you can select which tags from Exif, MAkernotes, IPTC, or XMP you want to see into Metadata viewer from Right Sidebar of icon view. There is a drop-down button to top on the list to change filter mode for each metadata view.

If a specific tags is not listed in config panel, well report this problem to Exiv2 project which provide this tags list.

sorry, this is related to:
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=338388
and you are right, there is option to enable different tags. I was specifically looking for the location description string that is possible to be shown, but only as series of codes.
