I presume you mean the "Classic Mode"? The Favorites is repropulated immediately afterwards, the next time you reopen it, with the default applications set in your KDE version. Works fine here in both the "Classic Mode" and the "Application Launcher Style", using Kubuntu 14.10 and KDE release 4.14.2
