Hello, I'm absolutely new to LINUX, trying to install a KUBUNTU 14.04 on a LENOVO X240, model 20AL-00C6GE. An appropriate configuration of the setup (partitioning etc.) is nearly impossible, as the mouse pointer is so "nervous". From my understanding, this is influenced by the touchpad: If I held my arm from top, having the elbow 30 cm above the keyboard and only one finger vertical on top of the track point, the mouse runs fine. Trying to click the mouse button (touchpad and mouse buttons unfortunately are no longer separate parts on this model), the cursor moves to anywhere. Sometimes an option is selected, if the cursor stays only over an option for some time or the screen flips unintended. I don't need the touchpad at all and don't want an extra mouse, I'm used to work with the trackpoint since years. The X240 allows to disable the touchpad in the BIOS, but this has no influence under KUBUNTU. Tried the same at the dealer's shop under WINDOWS 7 and 8 and it worked fine: No mouse movement with the touchpad, but the integrated mouse buttons worked fine. I've seen a revision dated May 12th., which I downloaded. Unfortunately by now my knwoledge is to poor, to get it installed. Actual the Help-page shows Touchpad Menu (I have the German language here) Version 0.99 under KDE 4.13.0. Thanks for any advice Regards Michael
Dear Bug Submitter, This bug has been stagnant for a long time. Could you help us out and re-test if the bug is valid in the latest version? I am setting the status to NEEDSINFO pending your response, please change the Status back to REPORTED when you respond. Thank you for helping us make KDE software even better for everyone!
Andrew, thanks for your work. YES, I can confirm, that is still not running properly; I have kUBUNTU 18.04.1 since the dot1-release has been published. A lot of improvement has been made in comparison to 14.04, 16.04 and 17.10; thanks for that! But configuration of mouse (trackpoint) and touchpad is still a mess. F.e.: 1. SystemSettings > Hardware > InputDevices > Mouse > Extended: Changing those values does not really produce a convenient setting. 2. SystemSettings > Hardware > InputDevices > Touchpad: In all tabs mos of the options are greyed out an not even accessible. Please note, hat I'm using A German Version here, so the naming of the Menu-Options might be different in English. I'm ready to provide more data or testing if helpful for you. Thanks for any advice. Regards Michael
Hello! This bug report concerns the Synaptics version of the Touchpad page, which is no longer supported in Plasma 6. Can you please see if the issue still happens when using Libinput? If so, please change the status back to "REPORTED." If not, go ahead and change it to "RESOLVED FIXED", or let the bot do it automatically after a month. Thanks!

Thank you @ Nate: To be honest. the X240 is no longer my working horse, but I will UPdate it to KDE6, as soon as KDE6 will be standard on MANJARO (stable). After that, I will report here.
Please see my answer here https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=335027#c5. I'm waiting for KDE6 on MANJARO stable. After thta, I can work on this issue.

Please see my answer here https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=335027#c5. Now I have KDE6 on MANJARO stable, but actually busy on other tasks. I will try to work on this next two weeks.

Plasma 6 is shipped on Manjaro now; were you able to test it?
(In reply to Nate Graham from comment #26) > Plasma 6 is shipped on Manjaro now; were you able to test it? Thank you @ Nate. Unfortunately this topic is still on my to-do list. I'm working hard every day but there are other issues in paid contract projects but also with our PCs, where we run MANJARO / KDE6 and are juggling around with the black screens after suspend, ref. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=483163#c46 or https://discuss.kde.org/t/plasma-6-lock-screen-renders-black-troubleshooting-help/11111. Please rest assured that I will rebuild the X240 with MANJARO / KDE6 as soon as my projects allow.
