Description Rafael Linux User 2014-05-14 16:15:18 UTC
When I try to save a NEW (not saved or existent) document from Words, in the modal window to save (or export), in the field:
- "Name" (filename): Appear the name of the folder, and the folder icon. It should empty or showing "untitled.ext" or something similar, not a folder name and folder icon.
- "Filter": Can't select document type of document to save (neither when try to "Export"). Only "All file types" is showed in list.

If I don't matter those things, finally, Words is trying to overwrite a folder (user "home" folder).
If I type a file name, Words is trying to save it with "unknown" format, and user is warned about this. Sometimes, the file appear with extension ".text".

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Create a empty document
2.Try to save or export it

Actual Results:
Extension of file is not assigned. Can't select format to save or export (and extension y not added by default, only sometimes like ".text")

Expected Results:
- Show a name in "file name" and do not show a folder icon
- Let user select save/export document format
- Add automatically an extension to filename by default and on selecting a format.

Each time I close a document, the document is saved, but an error from KDE appear (asking to reinit Words, Cancel or send info about the error).

I can confirm the same issue here on Chakra. Same problem with both 2.8.2 ad the latest 2.8.3. Same issue with words/sheets/krita/... the whole calligra set is affected.
This is our PKGBUILD if can help.

This bug seems to affect Calligra Flow. Continue to read for a possible workaround so you can save your work.

For those needing to save files, there are two possible workarounds:
1) Use the Save As ... Dialog normally, but put in the full name w/ extension i.e flowdocument.odg for an OpenDocument Drawing, in the case of a Calligra Flow.

2) A different possible workaround is to mail the document to yourself. Select File->Mail, to email yourself a copy of the document. When you save the document locally, you'll need to change the extension to .odg; this is for an OpenDocument Drawing, in the case of a Calligra Flow.

This bug is alive on the whole Calligra Suite since 2.8.2 versions on the following distributions:
Fedora 20
openSUSE 12.3 and 13.1
Kubuntu 12.04 and 14.04

It seems to be partially solved on Calligra Suite 2.9.x-gitxxx
Calligra Suite version 2.7.5 and below are not affected.

P.S.: Thanks to Ingwa and Demm to help me find this report.
