Description kamp 2014-05-13 18:42:03 UTC
Hi,

it for me exhausting to use my doctata on ther systems. I can link docdata where I want, but I need to reedit every file, but these is circuitous.

It would be awesome if it is possible to add the docdata also to the path where the pdf file exists (./), independent from the current path (optional).

(I know I can use the okular archiv format, but the clean pdf should still be there and save every file twice is a waste of memory. )

I hope my request will be heard.

Thanks

Reproducible: Always

Hi kamp, thanks for your comment. This past weekend the Okular team had a meeting and we have decided to actually kill the docdata functionality, if the user makes changes to a file he will get the choice to save them to an okular archive, save them to the file (if the format supports writting (i.e. pdf)) or discard the changes.

With that focus in mind your suggestion does not fit so i'm closing it.

Thanks for caring about Okular and taking the time to write this wish item.

This is not what I thought.

What is with the huge amount of docdata files I collected, in a future
version I can not use them any more?

I can not understand to remove this completely, edit the pdf file
directly could be also useful, yes.

But I liked the way to save the annotations in a separated small file.
This could maybe left for optional activation in the settings?

Thanks

Reading capabilities for the old annotations will be possible for the foreseeable future.

This *could* be a separate issue/request.
