Hi It seems that kate from git hash 4742fd2 has a issue with artefacts appearing when you're searching for a word, and when the search continues from the bottom. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open a large text document ( I generated one by strac'ing a application ) 2. Search for a word inside the document that occurs multiple times 3. Do a reverse search from the first hit 4. Once you arrive at the last hit, a message appears that search is continuing from the bottom 5. Scroll up/down in kate Actual Results: The message box produces graphical artefacts Expected Results: No graphical artefacts are produced
Created attachment 86540 [details] Screenshot of Graphical artefacts
That's strange, we fixed that in January in this commit: https://projects.kde.org/projects/kde/applications/kate/repository/revisions/712e671041265164536cce5fda6b3b7bac1a12c4 So this should not happen. Are you sure your checkout is just two weeks old?

Still present in 4.14.3 Ununtu/Mandriva/Rosa packages. When is on right top corner no visual artefacts presents, but when is on right bottom corner artefacts present every time on scroll.
Sorry, unable to reproduce that with any recent Kate (like Kate from 15.04)

Finally we found a proper fix for this, with KTextEditor in upcoming KDE Frameworks 5.24 release. Sorry for the inconvenience. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 363220 ***
