Description davidblunkett 2014-05-06 10:46:54 UTC
I can drag an attachment from kmail for a shell (where the file gets copied to the directory that the shell is in). This is super handy.

However, doing the same thing for more than one file doesn't work and instead pastes the names of the files into the shell each separated by a <return> which is not handy.

It is a bit more complex - D+D works only if the file icon is dragged and when dragging a selection it only copies the file whose icons was dragged even if there is a selection, dragging any other part of the text highlighted gets the text.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Attempt to D+D multiple attachments
Actual Results:
Either get one or the text

Expected Results:
All attachments copied together

This bug has only been reported for versions before 4.14, which have been unsupported for at least two years now. Can anyone tell if this bug still present?

If noone confirms this bug for a Framework-based version of kmail2 (version 5.0 or later, as part of KDE Applications 15.12 or later), it gets closed in about three months.

I can't check this in 5.1.3 because the smart attachments feature is broken - this is a known and reported bug which I think is fixed upstream but not in my distro yet. As far as I can tell in 5.1.3 drag and drop of multiple files is not possible (I can't select multiple attachments to drag them).

David, do you perchance know the number of the bug you mentioned? I just tried to reproduce the drag+drop thingy myself, and was surprised to find that I cannot drag attachments at all. I'd like to know if this is related.

Apart from that, this bug might be an INVALID candidate, since even a prerequisite for the feature in question seems to be broken.

I think this bug (can't dnd multiple attachments) will remain once the current issue of broken attachments is fixed. I think the broken attachments is known (I don't know the bug #) and fixed upstream. I can't vouch for any of this one way or the other at the moment.

At the moment:

I can't dnd any files multiple or single
I can't see any files inline

D+D of files is a long established feature so i think it remains a valid bug.
