Description pbea 2014-05-03 22:41:51 UTC
Good Day . . .

I start any kde sc app that requires root authority. I enter password and the app opens.

When I close the app the following error message is displayed. It does not open with closing but it appears to be there from earlier maybe when password was inputed.

" KDEInit could not launch '/usr/lib/kde4/libexec/kdesu' "

I checked around the internet and I found a couple of things to check for but nothing specifically to correct this error. The file "/usr/bin/kdesu" exists and is a link to /etc/alternatives/kdesudo. All ubuntu apps such as synaptic work with no problem.

This is consistently reproducible and has been present since I freshly installed Kubuntu 14.04 with KDE SC 4.13.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open a KDE app as a necessary root user
2.Use the app
3.Close the app
4.Error message visible
Actual Results:
see above

Expected Results:
No error message

Not shown the error message.

This maybe linked but on occasion KDE freezes after I enter the root password on a KDE app. The freeze lasts for about 30 seconds to a minute then all is well. No more freezes that session. It may be a missing file somewhere. It is too early to submit a bug report. Needs some more looking into.

I am only passing this on if it is related.

Good Day . . .

I apolgise but the title should be 'kdesu" instead of 'kdesudo'

I have identified the problem and a workaround

If I setup a root app to run such as "kdesudo app" then no error message. If I set up the app with 'run as other user' root then I get the error message.

Hope this helps.
