Description Mark Taylforth 2014-04-29 12:14:16 UTC
Installed Kate on Ubuntu 14.04. Is fine But Terminal plugin and view doesn't work. Have followed the advice in detail. Still no show.
I also have Kate on my other machine in exactly the same configuration on Ubuntu - exactly the same. Works perfectly.

Can U help?

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. no terminal on main GUI
2. happens every time
3.
Actual Results:
Just a grey block, as usual at the bottom of the window. ???

Expected Results:
Never installled on this machine

Installed fine The terminal window after terminal plugin was set and view terminal have been selected.

Are you sure you enabled the "Terminal tool view" plugin?

Hi Dominic,
I used the path to the plugins

Settings>Configure Kate> I choose 'Plugins' and used the radio
'tick' button of 'Terminal tool view' (Toolview embedding a terminal
widget).

And hey presto, No Terminal on the large GUI window. Although a drab grey
background does appear where the terminal (white or black terminal screen
as desired) should be.

Note also, I have also ticked the

       View>Tool Views> Show terminal field.

Just to be sure.

As I said, I have exactly the same set up and download configuration,
Ubuntu 14.04, on my other machine. It works very nicely for programming and
Latex-ing!

Regards,

Make sure you have konsole installed (it ships konsole-part, which Kate uses). Does that help?

Hi Dominik,

brilliant, it works, although I thought it was 'Terminal' that Kate
supported. Thanks again.

Mark.
