Description jones 2014-04-29 08:29:44 UTC
I get a Kwin crash window when booting the above. When I tried to download debug symbols, I ran out of memory.

I have saved dmesg output, /var/log/messages and 2 abrt's. I will upload them.

one is a
- kernel oops and the other is a
- coredump of "kdeinit4: plasma-desktop" (not kwin)
- the stacktrace ends in QTJSC::JSGlobalData::storeVPtrs() on
- constructing the QScriptEnginePrivate and the notion that you
- "ran out of memory"

pretty much points into simply that direction.
Is that in a virtual machine and how much memory did you assign to it?

Plasma crashing is bug 333987 (Qt compiled with gcc 4.9.0). I suggest to mark it as a duplicate, as we cannot resolve kernel oopses here.

I was using an HP G61 in real mode with 2.7GB memory and 4.7GB of swap. When I said I "ran out of memory", I meant I got a message saying the download of the debug packages would require more memory than I had, and suggesting I pick and choose.

I agree with marking this as a duplicate, as https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1091482#c11 is also pointing there.
