I would expect the icon of a popup note to be placed in the middle of the cursor position where I clicked.

I can understand you have different expectations, but how is that a bug? Are you sure 100% of people have the same expectations than you?

In my opinion it is the expectation of most people that something is placed under the cursor when pressing the mouse button. Of course there is no proof but for me it just makes more sense that way because the cursor is the only feedback for the position you get. Just image something would be placed at the bottom or with some distance from the cursor. It would be unexcpected.

Yes, people expect something is placed under the cursor, you suggest center, we do top left corner. Why is your idea so much better than what we do?
