When I save a file in Kate through FTP (Gnome 3.8.4), it appears a little window which shows FTP transfer progress. This little window gains focus and so distracts focus away from the main Kate window. In the meantime I may want to switch to an other document and start edit (or also save) it. The focus distraction prevents me to do it. I think this transfer window should not receive focus. Reproducible: Always
You get the window because you are not using the Plasma Desktop. The transfer dialog is integrated into the Plasma notifications.
Please do it well even for other desktops than Plasma. It SHOULD work in Gnome.

Confirmed when using Dolphin (and some other programs IIRC) on XFCE. I just hunted google to see if this bug was already reported.

Git commit 16a449cddf7f63e62fc2f90c7fed4463e62f167d by Martin T. H. Sandsmark. Committed on 27/12/2016 at 12:16. Pushed by sandsmark into branch 'master'. Don't focus progress windows Show the job tracking widget without stealing focus, e. g. from Kate when saving to FTP. This is especially important since there's a 0.5s delay before the window is shown so people often start interacting with the original window when the job progress is shown.
