(*** This bug was imported into bugs.kde.org ***) Package: kspread Version: 1.1 (using KDE 2.2.1 ) Severity: wishlist Installed from: RedHat RPMs Compiler: Not Specified OS: Linux OS/Compiler notes: Not Specified Star Office offers the option to put a "freeze" (in the window menu) on certain rows/columns. This allows you to put column and row headings in your spread sheet and have the "frozen" rows/columns remain visible as you scroll vertically or horizontally. That is a very helpful feature for keeping track of where you're at. Can this be implemented in KSpread? (Submitted via bugs.kde.org)
I think this facility is *essential* for a spreadsheet.
1.6.0 can split the view, but only horizontal OR vertical. It is not possible to freeze first row AND first column, but that is needed to navigate in very large tables.

Splitting the view is different to freezing rows or columns. When I split view the second view doesn't have row and column headers, so they aren't aligned anyway. Freezing is a must for any spreadsheet over a certain size that you need to see headings for.
