Description beautyisintheeyeofthebeholder1 2014-04-24 05:53:26 UTC
setting any name for a profile for my tablet (model intuos ctl480 by wacom) produces an error notification saying the #### names dues not exist and returning the setting to there default positions and farther changes made when applied return the same error, changing the name has no effect and it is constantly re-creatable

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
0.plug in tablet and open system setting to graphic tablets options in input devices
1. type name in profile space in system settings
2. click apply
3. look for error
Actual Results:
an error notification is given and no settings change is saved

Expected Results:
no error messages and settings to be changed when changed and to remain persistent otherwise

a pone requests I can provide screen shots demonstrating error notification or other aspects

Is you tablet working without the profile name changes?

I'll have a look next week
Comment 2 Jörg Ehrichs 2014-07-02 18:42:56 UTC
I can not really reproduce this.

If this error still exists, can you attach your
~/.kde4/share/config/tabletprofilesrc
and
.kde4/share/config/wacomtablet-kderc

To further investigate this issue, KDE developers need the information requested in comment #2. If you can provide it, or need help with finding that information, please add a comment.

I have this exact error. The files

~/.kde4/share/config/wacomtablet-kderc
~/.kde4/share/config/tabletprofilesrc

do not exist in my system (Kubuntu 14.04). How do I create them?

Both files should be created automatically.
Do you have the folder ~/.kde4/share/config/ with all the other kde specific configurations at all?

Is the kded wacom daemon running?

I have been dealing with this issue all morning. The problem was that

/usr/share/kde4/apps/wacomtablet/data/wacom_devicelist

Did not have my device. I downloaded http://kde-apps.org/content/show.php/wacom+tablet?content=114856 and the README had some instructions on how to add your device. Now the files are there and the settings work for the stylus and eraser.

Touch still doesn't work, but even xsetwacom reports it is on so I don't know if that's a problem with this GUI or not.

Could you post the additions you made to the wacom_devicelist so I can push them upstream?

Could you please open a new bug report with
* You tablet details
* the used wacom version (xsetwacom -- version)
* and what the problem with your touch device is.

Some notes:
> The device had 4 names, all with the same ID. I initially added all 4 but the settings only worked there was only 1.
> My device is CTH-480 while OP was CTL-480. The name and ID should be different.

I reported the touch issue as a new bug. Thanks!
