Hi i have just started using KDE and keep getting the following error when opening media files from my NAS drive non of the media players will work ."Cannot find input plugin for MRL "ftp://home-nas.local/Multimedia/Videos/Lana%20Del%20Rey%20-%20Ride.mp4". I am very new to Linux but was using Cinnamon befor and had no problem playing the files. thanks Gary Reproducible: Always
Thanks for the bug report! Could you please describe what exactly you did and how this error message was shown to you? Maybe also a screenshot might be helpful. I'm asking because Dolphin itself does definitely not create such error messages (but a library that Dolphin uses might, I'm not sure). Another question: does it work if you try to open a media player from the command line?

I have been doing some research but Google is a dangerous place if you don't know what you are looking for i have enclosed a website i visited which prompted me to try and install Nemo as you can imagine its taken me a little while to reinstall KDE again, you can probably tell i am not very inexperienced with Linux and have not yet worked out how to the open a media player from command line. again thank you for resounding and i hope this helps, Gary

I'll reassign the report. If other video players are installed on your system, you could try one of them by right-clicking a video file and then selecting "Open With". You could also ask for advice in a support forum of your distribution. Maybe some package that is needed for decoding video in patented formats is missing. Nor do I understand what the author means when he says that "Dolphin doesn't handle external media easily", but since you probably attached that screen shot for a reason, maybe you can enlighten us?
This bug is too old, for a version < 1.3. Closing it, as the latest version is 2.0.1, and lots of things changed since version 1.2.x, including the usage of VLC as video display backend, support for DVB-T2 and ISDB-T via libVLC, etc. You may check on the upstream version and see if the bug was solved. The README file contains instructions about how to compile it.
