Shutting down the system works by invoking "Shut down" in the K-menu/kickoff. A dialog then appears with a button "Turn off Computer", including an icon. Clicking on the icon shows a popup with the entries - Suspend to RAM - Suspend to Disk I've observed several times by now that users (friends, parents, co-workers) click on the icon to turn off the computer. However, clicking on the icon shows the popup menu. And the popup menu only shows the suspend items. The user simply did not get that they have to click on "Turn off Computer". So solve this issue, I suggest to add "Turn off Computer" to the popup menu: - Suspend to RAM - Suspend to Disk - --- (optional separator) - Turn off Computer This usability issue exists in all [recent] KDE SC versions.
out of interest: what made you think this is done by KWin? now more important question: which version? Because that determines where to move the bug report.
Thanks for your quick reply! Because of the logout/blur effect, and I didn't know what to look after otherwise. Which version? It was basically always like that: say KDE 4.8 - 4.13, if you want :-)
