Description Peter Gückel 2014-03-22 18:20:10 UTC
When I defer/suspend a reminder too a later time and turn the computer off and back on again (or reboot the system), the suspended reminder is forgotten.

Reproducible: Always

Expected Results:
The old behaviour of remembering suspended reminders, even after a power off/on cycle, is expected.

I can confirm that bug on KDE 4.11 on openSUSE 13.1 with the latest bugfixes applied.

I have updated to 15.12.3 in Fedora 24 and the problem persists!

I put an alert on old for 90 minutes and went to bed about an hour later. About 30 minutes after getting up in the morning, the alert was triggerred—certainly 10-12 hours past the 90 minutes I had indicated.
Comment 3 Peter Gückel 2016-05-18 23:42:50 UTC
Confirmed.

I deferred a reminder at noon for 5 hours. I suspended the computer for 2 about hours and resumed it around 4. The reminder should have come at 5 o'clock, but didn't. It is now nearly 5:45.

I suspect that the reminder will be 2 hours late.

As I said!

After the last post, I turned off the computer and, now home again, I turned it back on. Guess what!? 19:502 and the reminder was triggerred!

korganizer has amnesia... still!

Peter, can you still reproduce this? And if so, do you really always get these reminders eventually, or are they sometimes completely lost, as ticket #356429 reports?
Comment 7 Peter Gückel 2019-08-06 15:14:56 UTC
I cannot say, at this time. I still use korganizer for reminders on my laptop, but mainly for birthdays reminders and monthly bill payment reminders. I have moved the rest of my reminders to my android phone. I have been trying to watch, but I have not detected anything, but I have not paid accute attention. In the past, the amnesia would occur not just when I turned the computer off, but also when I suspended it. Upon reboot or resume, reminders that should have been triggered during the down time were simply lost. Again, I cannot confirm resolution nor continued issues. I will try to be more attentive, by suspending the computer when I know a reminder is due, to see if it is lost or appears upon resuming, but this could take me quite a long time to report back :-) Then, again, since it took you 5½ years to get back to my bug, I suppose long time is relative.

This ticket reports 2 issues:
1. Lost reminders in Description (and apparently comment 7)
2. Delayed reminders in comments 2 to 4

I would guess that these are 2 independent issues, which should be tracked in different tickets. I believe issue #1 is already tracked properly by ticket #317656. As for #2, if you can reproduce it, I recommend you file a new ticket, referring to a ticket tracking #1 in case there would be a link between these 2 issues.

I recommend that you avoid the term "amnesia" when reporting these issues. "Amnesia" is a medical term, and while amnesia can be temporary, it evokes a permanent loss to me, so using it in a sometimes temporary sense as you seem to do could be misleading.
