Gwenview apparently does not automatically update the image when I ue "Plugins > Images > Convert to Black & White" (however, it does convert the image). By the way, I've tried other plugins (e.g. flip, rotate). Gwenview does not update the image for any of them, but it only closes up when I use the black and white plugin twice.

I'm really sorry about the delay. I've just realized that the reason I can't use plug-ins in Gwenview is because i am on KF5... I guess if it's obsolete now this bug report is no longer valid?
