Description Martin Tlustos 2014-03-21 12:03:06 UTC
When opening a link in a new tab, rekonq stalls until the new page is loaded, so I can't navigate (keep on reading, moving up and down, switch between opened tabs etc.)

Reproducible: Sometimes

Thank you for the bug report. Do you still experience this problem in a more recent version of rekonq, such as 2.4.2? Also, does this problem happen on specific webpages or on all pages? If it is just some pages, please post a few URLs that cause this problem. Thank you!

It never happened regularly, only sometimes, so I can't provide sample urls just so. If it happens again, I will provide the whole set of tab open.

Confirmed on rekonq-2.4.2. Rekonq seems to be unresponsive while it is opening a new tab in the background. I'm not sure exactly what part of the background load is causing this - maybe DNS lookup or waiting for the first packet of data? In any case, rekonq does not stall until the complete page is loaded, just initially it stalls.
To reproduce, right-click a link, "Open in background", and then immediately scroll down the page that you are viewing. It doesn't scroll down immediately. The delay depends on something that is happening on the newly opened background tab.

That would also explain why it's more obvious some times than others. If the internet connection is slower, the rekonq stalls for longer (Our internet connection is rather snatchy - we live right next to power cable tower...)

As rekonq is basically discontinued, I am closing this bug as wontfix.
