1. When a reminder is set for a Korganizer event or task (to-do) the reminder should be displayed in a list of reminders automatically at the time set in the reminder. This was the case in several previous versions (Example: 4.3.2.1) of Korganizer. 2. In this version, the list of reminders is never displayed and, hence, the reminders too are not displayed when the time set in the reminders expires. 3. The reminder list is also never displayed Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Set a reminder for an event or task (to-do). 2. Wait for the time set in the reminder to expire. 3. Check the screen for a display of a list of reminders. Actual Results: 1. The list of reminders is not displayed and, hence, the reminders too are not displayed. Expected Results: 1. A list of reminders showing all the reminders for which the time set has expired should be displayed. 1. The reminder function did work in certain previous versions of Korganizer. 2. It has stopped working in versions of Linux > Kubuntu > Versions > 12.04, 13.04, and 13.10. 3. This failure occurs on different hardware platforms. 4. it used to work on the same hardware platforms in earlier versions of Linux > Kubuntu operating system.
I can confirm the stated behavior and find it also very annoying and dangerous for a serious personal information manager. Another situation where this behavior causes special grief is when the reminders window is closed for example accidentally because then it seems like this is treated like a 'dismiss all'. I circumvented this by setting the 'Closable'-property in the 'Special Window Settings' to 'force no'. But on a system shutdown this problem prevails. It would be nice to have a list with all expired reminders that were not explicitly dismissed by the user.
This bug has only been reported for versions before 4.14, which have been unsupported for at least two years now. Can anyone tell if this bug still present? If noone confirms this bug for a Framework-based version of korganizer (version 5.0 or later, as part of KDE Applications 15.08 or later), it gets closed in about three months.
Just as announced in my last comment, I close this bug. If you encounter it again in a recent version (at least 5.0 aka 15.08), please open a new one unless it already exists. Thank you for all your input.
