Alt-v (M-v) is seemingly swallowed by KDE even though it's not bound to any global actions. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install a program that uses the Alt-v shortcut (emacs, for example) 2. Start the program and try the shortcut Actual Results: Nothing happens. Expected Results: The action bound to Alt-v in the program should be triggered. Tested on two gentoo systems (one a fresh install, no prior kde config files) and exherbo.
Cannot reproduce. What keyboard layout do you use, and does it also happen with English layout?
Hm, it seems dependent on keycodes; I use svorak (swedish dvorak), but if I switch to us qwerty the same key combination, "Alt-.", still doesn't work.
@Andriy, have you seen this issue somewhere?
Affects me too. Using KDE 4.12.2 using swedish dvorak on Exherbo.
Still valid in 4.12.3, sadly.
WORKAROUND: Go to Window Manager Settings (for example from the application icon on window title bar and choose More Actions -> Window Manager Settings) -> Task Switcher. Clear both the "Alt+`" and "Alt+~" shortcuts from the Current application Forward and Backward keys. On US and FI (qwerty) keyboard layouts this affects Alt+. and on SE/dvorak layout this affects the Alt+v which is on the same keys. Since it can be workarounded from kwin settings, does it mean that this is a kwin bug?
Thanks! That fix works fine for me. I guess it's a bug in whatever part handles shortcuts; feel free to put it in the right one if you know.
Still exists in Ubuntu 22.04, which seems to have Plasma 5.24.
