When using the file picker in the icon view with previews enabled the grid is not aligned properly. Sometimes this also causes partial icons. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open the file browser from an application (in my screen shot I am browsing for a desktop image) 2. Ensure that icon view is selected and previews are turned on 3. Expected Results: Grid should be properly aligned.
I confirm on KDE 4.14.2 It seems related to preview in file icon. But the bug appears randomly...
It doesn't appear so randomly for me. It always happens if the "Sort by" order is changed from "by name" to anything else. While they are misaligned, the icons will also start jumping around (from left to right) if they are hovered with the mouse cursor.
I have the same issue on KDE Neon 5.9.0. how to reproduce : - open the file picker dialog - set the view to icon view - enable previews - sort by date (anything but sort by name) - set icon position above filenames - hover the mouse over the icons actual results : - the icons are moving around If the icon are positioned to the left of the filenames, they are still aligned, but the width of the selection is wrong and change on mousehover. The bug doesn't happen if the previews are off or if the files are sorted by name. Resizing the dialog seems to realign the icons.
I can confirm this on KDE Neon 5.10 The bug doesn't come up when using "Sort By Name", but happens in every other sort setting at random (often, but random). It still happens when previews are off for me.

Can confirm on 5.11. Grid is misaligned, file names truncated. After resizing the window the grid looks good, but every new instance of KFile shows the same issue.
I can no longer reproduce the bug as described in my Comment 3. KDE Neon 5.12 Plasma 5.12.2 KDE Framework 5.43.0 Qt 5.9.3
