Description shorty365 2014-02-03 17:26:01 UTC
A few weeks ago I discovered KFritz 0.0.13 so I now can use my FritzBox 7390 from my Kubuntu box. My FritzBox is on OS version 06.01 and since my English is better than my German I set the interface to English.

Since I’m using KFritz my FritzBox changes to German which is not a big problem but I have to restart my box to reset it to the English language and I cannot use KFritz because KFritz changes my box to the German language again. Configuring through the English interfaces is much easier for me since I don't understand all German texts.

It's a small but annoying bug and I really suspect KFritz to cause the language change. When I look in de KFritz logs I see lines that are requesting German files or German URLs. two examples;
Found header: Content-Disposition: attachment; filename=FRITZ!Box_Anrufliste.csv
Requesting HTTP GET on /cgi-bin/webcm?getpage=../html/de/menus/menu2.html&var%3Alang=de&var%3Apagename=foncall&var%3Amenu=fon&sid=ab349dee028ac305&

Could you please dive into this bug and provide a bigfix or a solution in the next version of KFritz?

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Close all Kfritz instances
2. Restart Fritzbox to English interface
3. Start Kfritz
4. Access Fritzbox throug webbrowser
5. Interface is in German again.
Actual Results:
Interface of the Fritzbox changed to German Language

Expected Results:
Interface of the Fritzbox should not have changed

The 7390 is available in three editions (german, austria/switzerland and international). Having the german edition I cannot configure the interface language and thus am not able to reproduce this issue. I'm sorry.

To fix this issue, I need help of a developer having apropriate hardware. If anyone can contribute a patch, I'm happy to apply it to KFritz.

Although I'm not a developer i'm willing to help you in analizing the cause of this bug en supply you with information to fix this bug. Please tell me what to do and I'm more than willing to perform tests analizes etc. I'm not afraid of the commandline and installing and compiling software is also not a big problem for me. Here in The Netherlands the Fritzboxes are quit popular, although expensive. One of the larger providers , XS4ALL, supplies their customers with Fritzboxes.

First, I would need a full wireshark Trace of kfritz startup. Can you create one and send it to me via private mail- because it may contain personal data?

This also affects me. I do not speak German (mein Deutsch ist nicht so gut!). It does prevent me using KFritz, which is a shame.

I will attempt to get a Wireshark dump of the KFritz startup process.
