Which opensuse did you install to get that Marble version? You're running the mobile version (marble-mobile) and not the Desktop version. Might be a bug in the opensuse packages.

i have investigated . in kde menu there is one "marble (virtual globe)" in kde menu editor there is 4 marbles with same name "marble" , same description "marble (virtual globe) but 4 different commands marble %F marble-mobile %F marble-qt %F marble-touch %F same name and same description => one menu option i changed the descriptions then now i have 4 menu options in kde menu , each for a different version >> "Which opensuse *package* did ..." is what I intended to write i did not installed myself marble . when i installed opensuse thus this installed marble libmarblewidget16 4.11.4.182.9 libmarblewidget17 4.12.1-134.1 marble " marble-data " marble-doc "
I can confirm the bug in KUbuntu 14.04. The mobile version has a broken menu on the Desktop. (And due to https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=333838 it's hard to spot which Marble is actually launched from the application launcher...)
