Description Philippe ROUBACH 2014-01-17 15:27:35 UTC
i made a report about oversizing pb but i can't find it again then i make a new one

when i launch the first time digikam then its windows does not oversizes horizontaly the screen

there is only 2 opened panels .

then
i click at the left on for example the map icon
then
a third panel is displayed
the windows at the left and right oversizes the screen .

we cant reach the first menu in the menu bar at left
we can't reach the vertical menu bar at the right

i found where is the pb :

if i use the native definition of the screen 1280x1024 then no pb
if i use 1024x768 for my eyes then oversizing pb

see the captures

Reproducible: Always

Switch application to Pure English and look if problem still here.

If no, it's a French translation problem : typically translated strings are too long...

how do you explain there is no more pb if
-i stay with 1024x768 definition
- i stay in french
- i force the dimension of the windows with "application windows settings" to the size of the screen

i assume there is a pb around digikam and kde windows manager

how do you explain i had the pb with version x of kde and not with x+n1 then again with x+n1+n2 then not with x+n1+n2+n3
that's the actual history of the pb

additional info :

writing this answer
i decide to go to read the digikam windows settings .
they disappeared and there is no more oversizing !
then
i decide to make experiment

i delete the third panel by sliding the side of the second panel to the left
then
i close and relaunch digikam
then
i click on map icon
then
third panel is opened
i have time to see briefly digikam windows oversizing the screen then returning to the limit of the screen.

my explanation : 2 days ago kde updated to 4.12.1

the pb is solved till a future update of kde
