Description Antonio Rojas 2014-01-15 20:09:14 UTC
I have a laptop with touchscreen. In Windows and in Gnome, when using the touchscreen the mouse pointer is hidden. In KDE it's not, and it is annoying. The pointer should hide when using the touchscreen, and shown again when using the touchpad or mouse.

Reproducible: Always

Do you happen to know which component/service is responsible in Gnome for hiding the cursor? Maybe it simply sets a mode in the X Server to hide it.

Already done on Wayland. Moving to KWin to investigate whether this is possible on X11.

After updating to 5.25.5, I have a cursor right after login (with Wayland). It disappears immediately when I touch the screen. I cannot recall this behavior from 5.25.4.

It's been working like that for many years. Regardless, this bug has been addressed a while ago. Visible pointer on startup is a different issue, which is tough to fix because kwin doesn't know what to do if you have both pointer and touchscreen and have not interacted with the computer yet.
