Description roland 2014-01-08 16:36:13 UTC
In my normal user account I cannot use the right area with numeric keys. Numlock doesn't work. Switching numlock from "bios" to "on" in the systemsettings and restart doesn't change it. Changing the options in OpenSuses "Yast" is without sucess, too (OpenSuse 13.1). It even doesn't work in a terminal. But after logging in as "Root" the numeric keys and numlock works fine.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. no working of numeric keys and numlock at all, even in a terminal.
2. setting "numlock" to "on" in systemsettings and Yast, restarting OpenSuse 13.1 without success
3. numeric keys move the mouse-cursor in a spreadsheet-formular.
4. Systemsettings, mouse-settings, mouse-navigation: Deactivation of "use keyboard for mouse-naviagtion" eliminates the failure.

Actual Results:
After probing the numeric keys in a spreadsheet-formular and founding them moving the mouse-cursor I found the solution myself:
In the systemsettings, mouse-settings, mouse-navigation the checkbox "move mouse by the keyboard" was activated by mistake. After deactivating it the keys in the numeric area und numlock works fine.

Expected Results:
The reason of the not working numeric keys an numlock was difficult to find, and the user should be better guided in a update. The checkbox of using keys for mouse-navigation should be in the keyboard-settings, too, and disable all the other settings of numlock, if activated. This setting shouldn't override the settings for the terminal in Yast.

see above - sorry for my ugly English

This is very old indeed! 2014-01-08! I think, it's my installation of OpenSuse 13.1, which I used for a long time until last year.
Meanwhile I installed OpenSuse tumbleweed with the aktual KDE-version.
In the mouse settings, there isn't the in my bugreport recorded "use keyboard for mouse-movement" - either in mouse- or in keyboard settings. I don't know, whereelse is the possibility to make this setting. If not, the bug should be fixed.

Another confusing point is, thät there are two rubriks for the behavior of the CapsLock-button (German: Verhalten der Feststelltaste), the first with a lot of possibility include the important "CapsLock is deaktivated", the second only with one posibility "Make CapsLock to an addition esc-button and ...."
