If a word has been used in a text in both capitalized and not capitalized versions, kile editor autocomplete defaults to the capitalized version. When typing English this is almost always inappropriate. I find editor autocomplete in kile useful because it suggests citation codes. However, the capitalization behavior which just appeared in the last update requires extra time and attention to choose the right option and correct mistakes, which slows down the entry of regular text. This amounts to a significant disruption. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Enter text in kile, using both the capitalized and the non-capitalized versions of the same word (say "Organization" and "organization") 2. Start typing the same word not capitalized in an appropriate context, such a the middle of the sentence in English. ("My organi...") 3. Autocomplete with the first available option. Actual Results: The capitalized version ("Organization") is chosen without regard to context. Expected Results: The capitalized version of the word *should not* be the default autocomplete option, except (1) when the word has been entered exclusively in the capitalized version, and (2, optionally) when appropriate in the current language and grammar settings (for example, after punctuation). In short, please don't try to make the function smarter than the user. It's easy to work around this bug by paying attention to the available autocomplete options. However, for the following two reasons, autocomplete now likely takes more time to use than not, which renders it a hindrance rather than a help in the entry of plain text: 1. As long as the Steps to reproduce above are satisfied, which is certainly over 75% of the time in a long text, the default option is reliably the wrong one, and the next option needs to be chosen. Noticing and doing this takes time. 2. When typing quickly it's easy to miss a capitalized letter at the *beginning* of an autocomplete suggestion, especially when paying attention to the *end* of the word, when more than one word is suggested (for example, "organization" and "organize"). As a result, it's easy to chose the capitalized word mistakenly, and fixing this takes time. Thank you for your attention to this matter!
Which update are you referring to? Unfortunately, I can't reproduce the problem with KDE 4.12 and Kile 2.1.3. Typing "My organi..." will only present "organization" as available completion option.
Michel, thanks for the reply. I'm running Kile 2.1.3 on xfce 4.10 using kde 4.12 libs & other components. Are you sure you have both the capitalized and the not capitalized version of the word in the text? In other words, have you tried typing e.g. "Organization organization organi..."

I can confirm this bug; the capitalized version is preferred when there is an earlier instance of the word written with a capital letter. My system: Fedora release 20 (Heisenbug) Kernel 3.14.9-200.fc20.x86_64 Qt: 4.8.6 KDE Development Platform: 4.12.5 Kile: 2.1.3 The bug also appears using: Ubuntu 14.04 LTS Kernel 3.13.0-29-generic Qt: 4.8.6 KDE Development Platform: 4.13.0 Kile: 2.1.3
This bug occurs for me too. Please only give me capitalized words when I ask for them. My system is: Fedora release 20 (Heisenbug) 3.14.8-200.fc20.x86_64 Qt: 4.8.6 KDE Development Platform: 4.12.5 Kile: 2.1.3 GNOME Shell 3.10.4
Might be related to bug 331307.
