Description FabiB 2014-01-02 09:50:41 UTC
when you use the desktop mode folder view and open files from this directory via drag and drop, kate is not able to handle them always correct.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. start plasma-desktop, and set them to folder view mode (a folderview widget is not enough)
the folderview should be your xdg-standard desktop folder
2. start kate, write some little text and save it you desktop (dont close)
3. now drag and drop that textdocument from your desktop to kate
Actual Results:
it will open as new file from kio desktop:/
when you try to make some changes and to save them, they will not everytimes written to the file and it will displayed that this file i changed, even if you hit 'save' over 9000 times

Expected Results:
it should opened as 1 file (maybe without kio) and changes should be written when i press save

it's actially hard to close this file from the kio, when its changed

I can confirm the problem with signal notification from KParts. Using desktop:// KIO, no plasma needed.

The KParts::ReadWritePart::save should eventualy result in emitting canceled() or completed(), but the signals won't arive when using desktop:// resource. I'm guessing that this is problem somewhere in KIO. Reassigning to KParts.

This is working now. No new reports in the last five years.
