In versions 4.8.5 4.10.1 and 4.10.5, when using color depth of 16, tool tips and similar items are surrounded by a black rectangle that is about 4 times the size of the actual tool-tip. Also any highlighted items (such as items in a directory listing) become washed out with a multicolored band instead of a normal highlight. This problem does not occur if the color depth is 8 or 24. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. start kde (using a color depth of 16 in xorg.conf) 2. open dolphin or system settings 3. pass mouse over items in the toolbar -or- items in the desktop panel. Also select some items in dolphin. Actual Results: Tool-tips appear and are surrounded by huge black rectangles. Selected items in Dolphin become blotted out by a multicolored band of stripes. Expected Results: Clean tool-tips and clean highlighted items. I'm using Slackware 14.0 and 14.1 on about 20 machines with a variety of video cards. The above described problem occurs on all of the machines. I'm using the KDE packages as delivered in the Slackware distributions.
I am assuming you are using Oxygen style, if not, please reassign.

Created attachment 155269 [details] attachment-15853-0.html I have abandoned the use of Linux. The developers have ruined the video drivers such that I can't use Linux any more with the video cards that I have.
