Description Odysseas 2013-12-06 15:10:33 UTC
A feature I would like to see in Krita is a docker where I can mix colors, pretty much like a traditional palette. This feature exists in programs like Corel Painter.

Krita already has it, it is the scratchpad for testing brushes. Would it be difficult to make a "scratchpad clone" docker that functions in the exact same way? Possible features based on the already existing features in scratchpad:
-Since there is the possibility to save thumbnails, the ability to save the palette as an image will be great.
-The "clear" button is fine, maybe just a warning dialog?
-Nothing more, like in the current scratchpad, the user can paint with the selected presets, like it is a mini canvas.

Reproducible: Always

We used to have a really proper color mixer docker that used some advanced maths to mix colors properly. It would be nice to restore that in some form, but we couldn't manage to maintain it when the original author disappeared.

I think this guy(and many others), just want the scratchpad widget in a docker so they have a place to make a big mess :)

The mixing method you're thinking of, boud, is slightly different as well as more complex than that.

Not what apparently libmypaint has or will have some spectral abilities, maybe it would be possible without such heavy math (on our side)?
