Having problems playing various cd's. Others (Artist: Matchbox Twenty, Album: North) Let me begin. 1. Kscd is unable to read the cd database text. When playing the above listed album it displays: Artist: Unknown, Album Unknown, Song title Unknown. 2. It only plays 1 song at a time. Once a song plays, it quits. It won't advance unless you manually double click it in the playlist. This problem is consistant across all albums tried. 3. If once it starts to play and you push random, when the song is finished, it appears to shuffle and then plays the same song. Over and Over. The above mentioned North album does this. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Play the Matchbox Twenty's North album to reproduce problems 1 to 3. 2.Play any other album without pressing random to reproduce problem 2. 3. Actual Results: As described in the details. Expected Results: When I put in a cd to play, it should display all relavent info. for any purchased cd I choose. When you press play, it should play from beginning to end without intervention. Random means Random, not repeat. This may to isolated to the offending cd, i.e. a newer one. This problem may apply to newer published cd's. I cannot verify which version of Kscd I'm using since there is no "about" menu item. But it was recently downloaded from the Kubuntu repositories running Kubuntu 13.04.
Overall you guys do a great job and I hope this isn't too difficult. Normally open source is a quality product, but when problems like this happen, it makes it difficult to recommend to someone who may switch to open source. People who listen to music on their pc are likely to use this. It would seem to me that back in 2009 when I made the switch from Windows, Kscd didn't have these issues and worked as advertised. I don't understand how software evolves from working just fine to having problems like this. Nevertheless this isn't enough to change my mind about open source. Just keep up the good work so I can convince people to switch away from Windows.
2. is bug 303912 3. is bug 234332 Note that kscd has no maintainer to adapt it to changes in underlying software (Phonon, udev/udisks etc.), so if it worked previously, it does not mean someone broke it intentionally.
