I edit a lot of files in kate over sftp. Often I get a notification that a certain file was saved - it slowly builds up a log of unusable "file been saved" in the notification area. So 2-3 times of day I can clear my plasma notifications from 20 notifications from kate. Could we not set a timeout for this kind of notifications? This notification happens ca. 2 seconds after saving in Kate, so it doesn't make sense to have it lying around all day or having to click it away with the mouse. Reproducible: Always
Could you please copy&send the text of that notification message? It could come from KIO.
I'm sure that is from KIO
I guess this will also be an issue with KF5, I guess KDE4 is in maintenance mode in that regard
The timout of notifications is handled by plasma I think. Unless you don't want KIO to show these notifications at all?
Nothing in KIO talks about "saved", it's all about copying and writing. I'm pretty sure this is from Kate itself.
I was wrong and inprecise when I wrote "file saved". Sorry. Directly translated from Danish it says "Moving [finished]" followed by newline and the file path. What I wonder is why a saving transaction that takes around 3 seconds should stay in the notifications until I clear it. 3 seconds is pretty interactive. If the notification can be updated to contain a "[finished]" then perhaps it can be entirely removed if it takes less than say 30 seconds. I don't know exactly what the time limit should be, but 3 seconds is too litlle for a notification that doesn't disappear by itself.
Is this still an issue in Kate 5 ?
For me that notifications work "ok" in plasma 5 and are not kept around for ever.
