Description Steven 2013-11-24 21:58:23 UTC
After I edit a photo, I move to the next photo. This automatically calls a confirmtion dialog asking if I would like to save cahnges. Please add a check box to say "Do not ask again." This would speed up the process. And of course, make this configurable so you can undo this.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Hit space bar after editing a photo to move to the next photo, when you have not saved your changes first
2. Dialog pops up
3. you must confirm each time

Allow a configurable option to skip over this dialog, and automatically save changes to a photo when you move to the next photo.

digiKam 4.7.0 for Windows is available :

http://download.kde.org/stable/digikam/digiKam-installer-4.7.0-1-win32.exe.mirrorlist

Please test and report.

Thanks in advance

Adding a check-box to forget to ask to save modified image is possible to add in confirmation dialog. But i'm sure that we have the opposite report about a lack of security to lost edited image by accident.

So, won't fix.

Does this mean that "automatically save when moving to next file or closing
without a prompt" IS a configuration option?

Because it should say
" Don't ask confirmation after you edit a photo but DO save it before you
move to the next photo"
That is the feature I meant to request

No it's not configurable.

A solution exist to code in source, but for explanation listed before, this can be considerate as dangerous. We must to prevent to lost work in editor.

What is the problem with a configuration option to automatically save
without a prompt when moving to the next file? If this option is selected,
then the changes are preserved. I don't understand the security risk?

In practice, almost all of the time you DO want to save your edits. Being
prompted each and every time to confirm is really not efficient. Why not
give users the option to skip the confirmation and just automatically save
the edits?

This is completely different than original file title :

"Don't ask confirmation after you edit a photo but DO NOT save it before you move to the next photo"

Not saving edited image and not ask for confirmation = lost modifications...

Ok, yes, the original title is incorrect. My apology. However, the
description of the request and this current thread does clarify the
intention of the initial request. Therefore, is it possible to consider
this opt-in configuration to have many fewer clicks and a faster process to
edit hundreds of files?
