I noticed this bug when testing this bug[1]. In my ssh X-forward session, when I first open a qt application (e.g. systemsettings) there is (almost) no shadow for tooltip and menus (however `xprop | grep -i shadow` on the tooltip shows that the KDE SHADOW property is set to the right format). Now if I open gtk-demo (using oxygen-gtk2) and check menu shadow by opening the first Application demo (btw the shadow looks perfectly fine here), close it and open the same qt application again. the shadow looks totally broken (screenshot[2]). How if I try with another qt application, the same thing repeat. In summary, what I have seen is (all in ssh sesson) 1. run systemsettings: almost no shadow 2. run systemsettings again: almost the same with previous one (minor difference sometimes) 3. run gtk-demo and open the application demo and the menu: shadow looks fine 4. run systemsettings again: shadow broken 5. run kate: almost no shadow 6. run kate again: almost same with 5 7. repeat 3: same with 3. 8. run kate again: shadow broken The funny interference between gtk and qt looks like some pixmap reuse on kwin/xserver but it looks like sth else is wrong with shadow rendering in oxygen-qt4 (or with qt4 pixmap rendering over ssh X-forward, or are you doing anything fancy about shadows in qt4?). I cannot reproduce the same problem with qtcurve 1.8.17 (probably because I use xcb_put_image for all shadows right now). Remote system: KDE 4.11.3 Local system: KDE 4.11.90 [1] https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=327919 [2] http://wstaw.org/m/2013/11/22/plasma-desktoponq639.png Reproducible: Always
Bespin has the same problem here (broken shadow) although maybe not really any funny interference. Looks like Qt4 doesn't like to render pixmap over ssh....
