Pinned google chrome when running. Selecting icon to launch causes dialog box to appear offering to "Open with".

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Launch google chrome from menu.
2. Right-click on chrome icon and select "Show A Launcher When Not Running"
3. Close google chrome.
4. Click on chrome icon to launch.
Actual Results:
Dialog box appears to "Open With"

Expected Results:
Google chrome should launch.

The same happens here on kubuntu 13.10 with google chrome beta Version 32.0.1700.19 beta
Comment 2 FabiB 2013-11-29 14:06:31 UTC
ohh and
Qt: 4.8.4
KDE: 4.11.2
x86_64

it happens also with the "icon-tasks" launcher
Comment 3 Rex Dieter 2013-12-01 01:18:31 UTC
confirmed, for whatever reason the url associated with the shortcut ends up being just:
file:///
instead of something expected like
 file:///usr/local/share/applications/google-chrome.desktop?wmClass=Google-chrome-stable

Workaround
--------------------------------
First un-check the "Show a launcher when not running" for chrome, if checked.
Open chrome and right click the icon task manager widget -> "Icon-only Task Manager Settings"->"Launcher Matching Rules"-> "Add" -> "Detect Window Properties" select the chrome window. In the launcher select chrome application under internet category and press ok. Check the "Show a launcher when not running" for chrome application.

Grigoriadis, Your workaround works for the icon-only task manager, but not for the regular task manager since there is no "Launcher Matching Rules" option. Any workarounds for that?

Nevermind, I found a workaround here: https://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=67&t=118633#p297598

This seems to work with Plasma 5. I think this bug can be closed.
Comment 8 Rex Dieter 2015-10-27 11:54:36 UTC
confirmed fixed here too, closing
